Filey stars set for north finals after regional glory

Filey Primary School's girls football team will be taking on the North of England's best in March after they were crowned North Yorkshire champions.

The Filey girls beat Thorpe Willoughby Primary School from near Selby 4-2 at Bramcote School to seal regional success, and will head to Sheffield for the Danone Nations Cup on March 17 as a result of their victory.Claire Fenby, PE co-ordinator at the school, said: “Everyone is very proud of the girls, it is a massive achievement for them. “We are now the North Yorkshire champions and will be representing North Yorkshire in the North of England finals in the Danone Nations Cup in Sheffield in March. “The girls have put in a lot of time and effort training and are now looking forward to the North of England finals.”
