Dave Brannan Jnr’s Flyers second string earned a spot in the second division - in their debut season - thanks to their defeat of Cayton in a seven-goal thriller.
The visitrs opened the scoring after only five minutes, but James Pinder’s volley put Flyers on level terms.
Lee Plant’s six-yard finish made it 2-1 and Mike Hunter’s shot from an angle took a deflection and beat the Cayton keeper to put the Filey side in charge.
The visitors roared back into contention with two goals to bring it back to 3-3 - the equaliser scored by Danny Collins - and set up a thrilling climax, Hunter’s penalty winning it for Filey.
Liam Sugden, Hunter and Pinder all shone for Flyers in this crucial win.
Boss Brannan Jnr said: “I am delighted that we have made sure of promotion, especially when we consider that we are in our first season.”
If Cayton lose at Whitby Wanderers on Sunday then Flyers will win the title, but a win for John Best’s side would leave them a point behind Flyers and confirm their promotion. Then both sides finish their seasons a week on Sunday, May 12, with Cayton at basement club Castle and Flyers at Newlands Reserves.
