Bryan Hughes and Paul Foot’s men travel to Consett or Billingham Synthonia on Saturday August 29 in the Emirates FA Cup preliminary round, before a lengthy trip to Kendal Town in the Fa Trophy preliminary round on Saturday October 3.

Boro know all about their Evo-Stik rivals Kendal, and joint-boss Foot is confident they can make progress in the competition.

He said: “It’s an interesting one going to Kendal, it’s a long journey which makes it tougher, but we showed last year we can beat them and I’m confident we can do it again.

“We put them to bed nice and early and got a comfortable win, so if we focus on ourselves and go with the right attitude we will be fine.

“We really want to have a few cup runs this year and that comes down to our mentality in the cup competitions.”

Foot admits Kendal were strong up top last season and he will be keen to have a look at their new line-up for the 2015/16 season before they make to the Northgate Vehicle Hire Stadium to tackle Michael Stringfellow’s men.

He added: “They were sharp up front last season so we will need to defend well, but having said that we will need to do our homework as we don’t know if they’ve brought any new lads in over the pre-season.”

Foot admits they know little about their prospective FA Cup opponents, as Ebac Northern League pair Billingham and Consett do battle to meet Boro in the preliminary round.

He added: “We had the wrong mentality when we went to play the North East teams last season and it showed in our performances.

“Again we will need to do some digging on whoever wins that tie, but when you know very little about the opponents, it becomes even more a case of making sure you perform yourselves.

“We will give whoever we play the utmost respect but we will be going there to win the game and try and go on a good run in the competition.”
