FOOT NOTES with Scarborough Athetic joint-boss Paul Foot: We must move on after Rudy’s departure

I would like to thank Rudy for the opportunity he gave me. If I wasn’t appointed as assistant-manager then I wouldn’t be in the position I am now.

I wish him all the best at AFC Mansfield and in the future, now Bryan Hughes and myself must kick on and do our best to take Boro forward.

There would be no better place for me to start as a football manager, the history of football in Scarborough and the support the club makes it perfect.

Much of the situation is up in the air at the moment, but it is very important that we just continue as we are, using that cliche of taking each game as it comes.

I went home a very proud man after the first game last Saturday against Northwich Victoria because the lads showed the fans that they wanted us in charge of the club.

They all put a shift in and stood up and fought, which was great to see.

Tuesday against Farsley was a different response.

Maybe a few were tired, we also had some returning to action and players like Jimmy Beadle were playing out of position.

Nobody will be judged on that performance, that is one we will put behind us.

We now have to go out there this weekend and make sure we give the same performance we did against Northwich.

After that, hopefully we’ll be going home with all three points.
