Academy graduate Wright, 22, has committed his future to the club, signing a new two-year contract, which will keep him at the Mariners until the summer of 2022, with the option of a further year.

Wright said to the club website:."I absolutely can't wait to get started, I'm a Grimsby lad and I've been a hardcore Mariner all my life.

"The fans are everything to me and I want to do it for them. Although I've been let down at times in the past, the fans have been brilliant with me and I've had nothing but their support, so I want to do it for them".
