Scarborough Athletic boss Rudy Funk finally got his man when capturing keeper Jason White.
When White was playing for Mansfield Town in the Football League Funk told the stopper that he would one day turn out for one of his sides and now Funk’s plan has become reality.
Since his days at Mansfield, White had spells with Kings Lynn and Shirebrook, before turning out for Gainsborough Trinity.
He played in the Conference North play-off final against Nuneaton Town at the end of the 2011-2012 campaign.
White said: “I go fishing with Rudy and he said to me when I was at Mansfield that I would play for him in the future.
“I told him that when I do I would mean it and that is what has happened.
“I’m very excited about the project because Scarborough are a sleeping giant with some fantastic support.
“Rudy is a man with amazing drive, you only have to have a look at the calibre of player he is attracting.
“The lads have come in from Ferriby and I could have signed for Gainsborough again. We are all dropping down, but you have to look at this club as one of the big boys.
“I haven’t been this excited about a season for a long time, this whole thing has really lit a fire in me.”
