With Scarborough Athletic poised neatly in behind the NCEL Premier’s top two heading into December, boss Rudy Funk has revealed that he is happy with his side’s progress.
Boro continued their solid form on Saturday when they beat Arnold 3-1 at home, a result that kept them hot on the heels of leaders Bridlington Town and second-placed Brighouse.
Funk said: “I delighted with how things are going.
“For me the changing room is fantastic, we have the camaraderie and we have plenty of points on the board.
“The togetherness is phenominal, the supporters, the chairman and the board. Everything is just right at the moment.
“I am a delighted man. Hopefully we can improve on what we have done so far and then who knows.”
The most recent result against Arnold also brought a smile to Funk’s face.
“It wasn’t the most spectacular game, but the thing I enjoyed how we moved the ball around with a purpose,” he added.
“The pattern of the game was left to right, right to left and when we moved the ball we did it as a unit.
“I probably enjoyed this game more than any other because we stuck to our plan.
“The lads are taking on board what we are telling them and things are taking shape.
“You have to beat what is in front of you. Arnold weren’t the most physical, but they have pace and a threat.
“At no stage in the game did I think things were going to go pear-shaped.”
