SCARBOROUGH Athletic boss Rudy Funk was delighted with his players’ response during the 5-0 NCEL Premier success at Long Eaton United.

Funk’s men brought their three-match losing streak to a end with a powerful display.

He beamed “It was a very good performance. We have told the players what is required from them for the rest of the season and they did exactly what they were told, because of that we won.

“As long as my players give it their all then that is all that is required. The attractiveness and the skill comes further up the pyramid, if you give 100 per cent at this level then you will do well.

“For a few weeks I haven’t enjoyed watching them. We have just been showing flashes of what we can do.

“Against Long Eaton it was completely different, we played for the full 90 minutes.

“Our fourth goal showed exactly that, the link-up play between a number of our players before Ryan nodded in was fantastic.

“It was nice for Ryan to score after so many weeks of unrest because of the ban hovering over him.

“Adam also proved that he is a great signing for us as well. He scored two goals and played some great stuff with Ryan.

“We just have to go on and think about the positives from this game. If we carry on putting shifts in like that then we’ll pick up a good number of points.”
