THE France family have said a huge thank you to Scarborough Athletic fans and officials after an auction night to raise funds for former boss Brian France raised £4,000.
There was a great turnout for the event, which was held at the Manor Club in Hull, in honour of Brian, whose role as Boro boss was cut short a year ago due to injury.
Brian’s son Darren, who is Boro’s assistant manager, said: “It was a great night and there was a great turn-out.
“As a family we would just like to say a big thank you to everyone involved.
“The club means so much to my dad, so for them to organise this was amazing.”
A number of pieces of memorabilia sold on the night, ranging from signed Derby and Liverpool shirts to Nick Barmby and Alessandro Del Piero shirts, complete with signature.
Current boss Rudy Funk added: “Brian is a well-known man in the Hull area and also in non-league football.
“Everybody at the event had to utmost respect for him because of everything he has achieved in the game.
“Tony Brown, Andy and Sandra Troughton and everybody else at the club deserve a huge pat on the back for arranging such a great night.”
