Gary Hepples could make a shock debut for Pickering against Scarborough Athletic on Saturday after completing a quick-fire switch between the two NCEL Premier clubs.
Hepples had made 137 appearances in a Boro shirt, but he has been turning out for the reserves in the Humber First Division this season due to a change in work commitments.
Pickering boss Jimmy Reid made an approach earlier this week and Boro waived the seven days, which will allow him to play in the derby battle at Mill Lane, 3pm.
Boro boss Rudy Funk said: “Gary has been a great servant to the club, but with his home life and work commitments he has been struggling to make it to training.
“He goes with our blessing because we thought it would be better for him to have a change and see what he can do at Pickering.”
Funk goes into tomorrow’s game with mixed emotions, as Mill Lane was the venue where he took control of Boro for the first time in April of 2011.
Boro lost that game 5-0, but they bounced back last season to book a 4-0 victory on the road at Pickering.
Funk added: “It is a great local derby game for us and for the fans, who I hope will turn out in their droves.
“Pickering is always very special to me. When I came out of the dressing room in my fisrt game in charge and received that welcome from the fans it was such a great feeling. Since then I have never looked back.”
Boro look set to be without defender Cameron Fearon for the game because he picked up an injury in the 1-0 victory against Parkgate on Tuesday night.
