SCARBOROUGH Athletic’s strike duo of Adam Lee and Ryan Blott believe that Boro still have plenty to play for this season.
Rudy Funk’s men chalked up their third consecutive NCEL premier division victory with a 2-0 home win over Thackley on Saturday. The three points for Boro, coupled with Bridlington Town’s defeat to Pickering Town, keeps them in touch with the top of the table.
Former Armthorpe forward, Lee, believes that if Boro keep winning then promotion could still be a possibility.
He said: “If we finish the season strongly then you never know what can happen.
“We have said to ourselves that we need to go out and do our bit, win our games and then hopefully other teams can help us out by beating the sides around us.
“The pressure is maybe slightly off us now, hopefully now we can just stay under the radar and keep putting the wins together.
“We have won three on the bounce now and are putting a bit of a run together. We have a big game next week with Retford, if we can win that and kick on then we could be going into the last few games with it all to play for.”
Lee’s strike partner Blott believes that his side still have an “outside chance” of grabbing a promotion spot following their recent run of good form, which he puts down to boss Funk getting his troops to go back to basics.
He said: “It was a good win over Thackley, Rudy’s got us back to basics because we have been too easy to get through. I think it is paying off. We’ve had two wins and two clean-sheets in a row, I don’t think you can ask for much more than that.
“We are just taking every game as it comes, we have got an outside chance of promotion, we just need to keep battling away and picking up points.
“The big teams can get beat, they will have slip-ups, just like we have had, so if we win our last five games we can give ourselves a chance.”
