Kay follows Ironside to take his place in your Boro XI

The Scarborough News’ plan to collate the all-time favourite Boro XI of the supporters is now well underway.

Right-back John Kay was the second player to be inducted into the Boro hall of fame after goalkeeper Ian Ironside, who was selected as number one.

Kay turned out for Boro between 1996 and 1999.

This week we are switching attention to the left-back role, with fans of both Scarborough FC and Scarborough Athletic being given the opportunity to pick their favourite player from that position on the park.

All you have to do is send us your decision via text or email before the Wednesday of the following week.

Our panel has made their selection for the right-back role, let us know what you think.

Mitch Cook chose Neil Thompson: Probably one of the best players I have ever played with. A thundering left foot.

Darren Foreman chose Alan Kamara: A popular character in the dressing-room, quick in mind and body, he also read the game so well.

Jimmy Beadle chose Neil Thompson: I only saw him in his second spell at the club, but Thompson was a quality player and he could smash.

Ivan Ash chose Neil Thompson: Moved for big money and of course won the Conference. Off the field the clumsiest man I ever met, but what a shot.

Martin Dowey chose Neil Thompson: He was an absolute powerhouse of a full-back, who had everything from pace through to a ridiculous shot.

Stuart Canvin chose Alan Kamara: He was solid, confident, reliable Mr Dependable. Had time for the fans, he was another one of those Boro legends.
