The youngster, who arrived at Boro at the very beginning of pre-season, had been in exciting form before he was hit by a huge blow in the friendly clash against Pickering Town.

He suffered a fracture of his leg during that game and in an operation at York Hospital, surgeons placed a metal plate just above his ankle.

Despite the injury, Keita still made it to Boro's friendly outing at Harrogate Town on Saturday.

He said: "It is very painful.

"They put a plate in my ankle for six weeks and after that I should be okay to get going again.

"I just want to play football for Scarborough, I can't wait to get back."
