The Boro chief is still smarting from Boro's dismal FA Cup exit on Saturday, when they lost 2-0 at home to Hyde United in the fourth qualifying round.

He is now keen to land some derby-day joy at the Turnbull Ground to soften the blow.

There is a pre-match boost for Boro, as defender Danny Stimpson and midfielder Jimmy Beadle may return, though Ross Daly (calf) is a doubt.

"I'm still absolutely gutted about Saturday, it wasn't good enough by any stretch of the imagination," said Kittrick.

"We need to bounce straight back. We have to be better defensively and all across the park.

"It is a local derby, so it is about being the top dog of the area, That is a title we want to take home with us."

Having hinted at change after Saturday's defeat, Kittrick has been checking the irons in his fire.

He added: "It is a bit early, but we are looking at a number of things.

"Any player we bring in has to improve us, you can't just sign people for the sake of it."
