Scarborough Athletic boss Steve Kittrick is expecting another defensive examination when his team entertain Leeds United Under-23s on Saturday, 2.30pm kick off.

Boro will be buoyed by a fine result on Tuesday night when they beat national League side Harrogate Town by a 2-1 scoreline.

Kittrick was obviously over the moon with that result, but he is keen for his side to further tighten their defensive belts on Saturday.

“We looked good on Tuesday, but there were a couple of areas that we were concerned about,” the Boro boss said.

“We conceded pretty much straight after we scored, which happened in the game against FC United as well, that is something we need to look at.

“Saturday will be another test of our defensive capabilities because Leeds will be fit and technically very good.”

Saturday will see the return of Kev Burgess from a calf injury, as well as Jimmy Beadle and Leon Scott, who both missed Tuesday due to work commitments.

Kittrick added: “We have Leon, Jimmy and Kev back in the squad, so that will mean we have seven on the bench.

“It is just about sorting the right mix out now for when we get going in the competitive games.

“We have a few things in mind, but we want to know where we are for that opening league match.”
