McGough’s double helps Scarborough Ladies U14s see off Shiptonthorpe

The U14s started on the front foot and soon took the lead with an excellent shot from Kelsie McGough.

Lucy Fairbank added two more to make it 3-0 at half-time.

Scarborough continued to cause problems in the second half for the away defence and scored twice more with a goals from Tilly dixon and second for striker McGough.

Shiptonthorpe scored a late consolation.

The whole team were contenders for player of the match but Fairbank and Phoebe Philps were awarded the manager’s joint player award.

Scarborough Ladies Under-15s picked up their first win of the season with a 2-1 victory over Bishopthorpe.

Scarborough took an early lead as player of the match Jess Corner’s excellent delivery from a corner was volleyed home by Libby Wright.

It was soon 2-0 as Evie Wardell collected Jorji Crawford’s through-ball and calmly slotted home.

The home side continued to press through the half, Abbey Boyes hitting the bar with an excellent drive.

The second half was more even with the visitors pulling a goal back on the break, but Scarborough ground it out and took the spoils.

The Under-15s’ next match is away at Bedale this Saturday.

Scarborough Ladies Under-16s were unlucky to lose against Wigginton in the cup.

The home side dominated but couldn’t breach the solid Wigginton defence.

Late in the second half a rare break by the away team saw the impressive Amy Marrass make a last-ditch tackle and the ball diverted back to the keeper who dived on it.

The resultant indirect free-kick for the back-pass saw the ball played back to Wigginton’s impressive central defender, who smashed it in to the roof of the net.

Scarborough continued to attack, bringing excellent saves from the visitors’ keeper, but it was just not to be.

Scarborough Ladies Under-11s put in a superb performance in their match at Brayton Belles.

Captain Harmani Atkins scored two for Scarborough.

They take on Wigginton Grasshoppers this week.

Scarborough Ladies Under-13s suffered a 10-0 loss on the road at runaway league leaders Knaresborough Celtic.

They never stopped battling with Jess Morgan and keeper Demie Elwick shining.

The U13s are at home to Brooklyn this Saturday.

Scarborough Ladies Under-12s team made their debut in the Teeside Junior Football Alliance on Saturday at Boro Rangers.

Goals from Gracie McGloughlin and Alesha Grime couldn’t prevent a 3-2 loss.

The U12s host Linthorpe Accies this weekend.

Scarborough Ladies FC are seeking new players for several of their age group teams.

The club would welcome new players in their Under-15s and Under-16s sides.

Anyone interested can turn up for training at the Flamingo Land Stadium between 7-8pm on Thursdays.
