THE first ever North Schools (Scalby, Graham and St Augustine’s) vs South Schools (George Pindar Community Sports College and Filey) Football Challenge Cup ended in a 2–1 victory for the North.
This came with wins for the year eight and nine teams, but a dramatic turn-around defeat for the year seven team in the matches played at Filey School.
Staff from each of the schools taking part in the challenge identified the stronger players from their own school teams and a representative team was then selected based on these nominations.
Each match was 30 minutes per half but it was the combined results that established which of the two areas of the Scarborough district could claim the cup on the day.
It is hoped that challenge will become an annual event as it proved very popular for both pupils and staff.
