Olsson livid at Boro collapse

SCARBOROUGH Athletic boss Paul Olsson pulled no punches after his side collapsed in woeful style against NCEL Premier strugglers Hallam.

Boro led 4-0 with just 20 minutes remaining, but a massive change in fortune saw the Sheffield outfit come charging back.

The whole debacle began when strike duo Richard Medcalf and Ryan Blott made way for Rob Northen and Bill Law.

Medcalf had earlier marked his return to a Boro shirt with a hat-trick, while Blott also caught the eye.

Olsson said: “I question myself, but when it gets to that stage of a game when you are 4-0 up, then you should be able to give players a rest and others a run.

“Meddy had done very well and Blotty the same, so we gave them the chance to milk the applause of the crowd.

“When they came off we stopped doing the things we had done so well earlier on.

“We got sloppy and allowed them back into it when the game should have been dead and buried.

“We didn’t defend as a team, right from front to back, which was so disappointing.

“To come away from a game that we dominated for 90 per cent of the time with just a point is disgraceful.”

Olsson added: “That kind of thing can’t happen again.

“We need a change in mind-set or we need a change in personnel.

“It is clear from this performance that we aren’t good enough in certain areas.

“That is a situation that we will be looking at in the very near future.”
