SCARBOROUGH Ladies under-13s Blues set up a mouth-watering semi-final clash after a dramatic penalty shoot-out win over Fulford in the City of York Girls League cup.
The Blues will now face the Boro under-13s Reds side in next week’s semi-final, and they have keeper Ebony Earle to thank for getting them there after she saved Fulford’s fifth spot-kick to take her team through.
Fifty minutes of football had seen few shots on target, with the regulation 20 minutes each way and five minutes each way of extra-time failing to seperate the two sides.
Laura Green had come close for Boro with two efforts on goal during the match, but the Fulford keeper held on to both drives.
At the other end Caitlin Foster and girl-of-the-game Lizzie Sartain teamed up superbly to block any attacks from the visitors.
And so the game went to penalties, and Fulford went first.
The first three kicks for each side were scored. Green, Foster and Olivia Jenkinson slotting home their shots confidently alongside their Fulford counter-parts.
However Fulford struck their fourth penalty high and over the bar.
Lizzy Alport smashed home Boro’s fourth, and keeper Earle completed a dramatic win when she saved Fulford’s final penalty to send her side through.
