WEST Pier boosted their title bid as they hammered second-placed Staxton 15-0, with both Neil Thomas and Martin Cooper bagging four goals apiece.
In a game in which Staxton were losing 9-0 at the interval, Paul Provins also bagged a treble for the victors, while Jamie Bradshaw and Tom Barker helped themselves to a brace each.
Striker Thomas scored the goal of the game when he netted directly from a corner.
Pier’s assistant boss Jamie Towse said: “That was a big win for us and we are delighted with the way we played.
“It was probably our best display of the season and we produced some fine football.
“Neil’s goal from the corner was superb and he definitely meant it.
“This win gives us a huge boost in our quest for the championship.”
Rock-bottom Angel had to come from two goals down to claim a share of the spoils in an exciting 3-3 draw at Klosters.
Klosters were ahead after 20 minutes when Gareth Olney’s free-kick set up Carl Townley to register.
And it was 2-0 to the home side when Neil Fryirs smashed the ball home.
Rob Speight clawed a goal back for Angel before the interval.
Angel came out fighting in the second half and were back on level terms when Stefan Moon scored from 30 yards.
Klosters regained the advantage in the 70th minute when Liam Vasey finished off but with just seven minutes remaining, Luke Delve equalised for Angel when he converted a penalty.
Jake Scutt impressed for Klosters alongside man of the match Liam Vasey on the left side of midfield while Moon and Delve played well for Angel who stay rock-bottom of the division.
