Pindar site earmarked for new 3G surface

Pindar School's ageing astroturf pitch will be replaced with a new 3G surface - subject to a successful bid for funding by Scarborough Borough Council.

At their meeting last month, Cabinet voted in favour of pursuing funding from the Football Association when applications are accepted in May.

A decision is expected in July and should their bid be accepted, a full size 3G pitch will be installed.

A 3G pitch at Pindar would provide a huge boost to the local sporting community, with the artificial surface at the University Campus currently the only one in the area.

Sunday League chairman Mark Plumpton said: “This is the single best thing that could happen to the local football leagues. If it comes off it’s the best news we’ve had for years.”

At the time of going to press, Scarborough Borough Council hadn’t responded to our request for information.
