7/5/11 Bradford City's Dominic Rowe fires in a rare shot in the 5-1 defeat at home to Crewe.

The former Bradford City winger wasn’t bothered about dropping down a level or two to play for Boro, as the current ‘buzz word’ of ambition attracted him to Queensgate.

He said: “I met Bryan Hughes and Paul Foot and I was very impressed.

“It was a bit of a drop for me, but the fact that the club just missed out on the play-offs last season attracted me.

“This kind of club with this kind of ambition made me want to be a part of it.

“I also spoke to Alex Metcalfe, who I know from Harrogate, and he said that it is such a great club.

“I know Alex, Dan Clayton and Cameron Murray, which will help. They have all said that they are a close-knit group, which is important.

“You need to be friends on and off the park.”

Rowe was given the opportunity to stay at Harrogate, but he wanted the guarantee of game-time, which was lacking under their boss Simon Weaver.

“They said that I could have stayed at the club, but I wanted to play football. It is so frustrating on the bench and watching from the stands,” he added.

“I just want to play my part for Scarborough now. I’ve got a bit of pace, but I want to help with assists and also chip in with the odd goal.”
