Newlands picked up an impressive 5-2 victory against Filey Town in division one, while there were wins for USB, Edgehill Reserves, Rillington and Filey Reserves in the second tier.
Division one: Filey Town 2 (Tomlinson, Sheldon) Newlands 5 (Logan 2, Exley, Cook, Dove)
Newlands emerged from this clash of the first division heavyweights with a 5-2 victory.
Sean Exley and Billy Logan struck in the first half to send the visitors into the interval with a two-goal advantage.
Ricky Tomlinson pulled a goal back for Filey shortly after the re-start but a second goal for Logan and strikes from Scarborough Athletic midfielder Nathan Cook and Chris Dove sealed the three points for Newlands.
Scott Sheldon was the other man on target for Town.
Josh Hakings was Newlands’ man of the match while centre-half Ben Briggs stood out for the home side.
Division two: Flixton 2 (Hughes, Watson) Scalby 2 (C Townley 2)
Carl Townley was the hero for Scalby as he grabbed a brace to earn Kev David’s side their first point of the season.
James Hughes put Flixton ahead but Townley levelled the scores when he volleyed home after a neat first touch.
Chris Watson ensured that Flixton headed into half-time ahead after he wriggled through the Scalby defence to sneak his side back into the lead.
Townley smashed in a stunning second after the break to earn Scalby a share of the spoils.
Cayton Corinthians 1 (Brown pen) Filey Town Reserves 3 (J Gage 2, T Haxby)
Filey Reserves returned from their trip to Cayton with a 3-1 win.
Joe Gage grabbed a brace and Thomas Haxby also picked out the back of the Cayton net to put Dan Kempson’s side 3-0 up.
Man of the match Michael Brown converted a second-half penalty for the hosts after Micky Dennis had been fouled in the area, but it proved to be too little too late for Corinthians.
Rosette 1 (Crowe) United Sports Bar 5 (Battye, Vasey, Spivey, Moore, Buckross)
United Sports Bar continued their impressive start to life in division two with a 5-1 success at Rosette.
Charles Battye put the away side 1-0 up in the first half after he capitalised on a mix-up in the hosts’ defence.
Liam Vasey, Tim Moore, Fadil Spivey and Sean Buckross netted in the second period to fire USB into a 5-0 lead.
Substitute Robbie Crowe pulled a goal back for Rosette late on but it proved to be little more than a consolation strike.
Right-back Wayne Shaw starred for Rosette while Vasey produced a silky display for the victors.
Newlands Reserves 4 Edgehill Reserves 7 (Prosser 2, Bell 2, L Cooper 2, OG)
A five-star first-half performance from Edgehill Reserves saw them pick up three points from their clash with Newlands’ second string.
Jason Prosser’s double, an own goal and efforts from Liam Cooper and Dave Bell put Danny I’anson’s charges 5-1 up by the interval.
Cooper and man of the match Bell both scored again after the half-time oranges and although Newlands scored three second-half goals of their own, the visitors took the spoils.
Snainton 0 Rillington Athletic 1
Rillington picked up a narrow win on the road at Snainton.
An unstoppable 40-yard strike midway through the first-half was enough to secure all three points for the visitors.
Sam Wallace came close to drawing Snainton level on a couple of occasions but Leigh Watson’s men could not find a way back into the game.
Right-back Sam Turner was on top form for the hosts.
