Scarborough Ladies FC stepping up return to action

The 2019/20 season was cut short due to the pandemic, but with restrictions being lifted and sport starting to return, the club are stepping up their preparations for training to get back under way.

The club’s safeguarding officer Carol Firth said: “Training will resume this week and coaches will be in touch to let players know when and where.

“We are still hoping that our Under-14s get the chance to play in the North Riding County Cup final.

“We are also hoping to have teams for the Under-11 age group all the way up to Open Age next season.

“The open age group has been slowly building over the last few months with our FA Mars Stay and Play sessions.

“We are hopefully now in a stronger position to enter a competitive league.

“At the younger end we are always looking for new players to join us no matter of their ability or previous playing experience if they want to play then we are happy to welcome them to our club.

“If there are any coaches out there or students doing PE in further education that would like to coach or help run sessions etc then we would also love to hear from you.

“The same goes for anyone considering refereeing, we have helped a number of referees gain valuable experience over the years and we would love for that to continue.”

There have been a few changes behind the scenes at the club.

Firth added: “Mike Hyde has stepped down as chairman after 12 years with us.

“He’s going to be a massive loss but we are pleased to say that Owen Willis has stepped up to take on the role.

“Our new treasurer is Kev Wardell, who has been with us for a couple of years.”
