SCARBOROUGH LADIES: Foster's goal rescues a point for unbeaten Under-15s

In a hard-fought game, the home side fell behind for a third consecutive game when visiting striker Amy Logan launched a rocket into the top corner, giving the keeper Erin Nicholson no chance.

Scarborough applied much more pressure in the second half and were soon level when Khyarna Foster’s powerful shot squirmed under the keeper.

The home side could have won it in the dying seconds when Lauren Corner raced onto Eden Sellers’ perfect through-ball, but the draw was probably a fair result.

SLFC’s Under-14s travelled to York for a tough game against the Tigers, but after a slow start came away with all three points.

On top from the outset, the visitors were struggling to make their possession count until skipper Daisy Stokoe was played in by Ellie Speak and rounded the keeper to score.

Soon after Tigers equalised after a defensive error before Speak put Scarborough back into the lead to go into the break winning 2-1 – thanks to the tireless midfield efforts of Beth Barnes, Anna Bowman, Lucy Roberts, Phoebe Wareing and Ellie Pateman.

SLFC came out with their shooting boots on in the second half, first-half keeper Amber Colling coming out and struck almost immediately before Jess Hindle was played in by Stokoe to make it 4-1.

A five-minute spell saw Tigers come back into the game and they scored their second.

Roberts did well in her spell in goal before Stokoe got the call to go between the sticks for the last 15 minutes as SLFC aimed to shut up shop.

But the girls had other ideas. Clever, route-one football worked a treat and Stokoe claimed another three assists from her pinpoint goal-kicks down the middle, which were tucked away by Hindle, who scored four in total, and another from Speak, her first-time lob over the keeper being the pick of the goals.

And excellent defensive work until the end from Charlie Jowitt, Jolie Matthews and Mia Nunns as well as a goal-saving clearance by Wareing ensured it was to be a good day as they kept out the dangerous Tigers front line to head home with a brilliant 8-2 victory.

The new Scarborough Ladies Under-11s team played their first-ever game when they hosted Scotton Scochers.
