Scarborough sides dumped out of Junior Cup

Scarborough & District Saturday League sides Goal Sports and Cayton Athletic crashed out of the FA Junior Cup against Beckett League opposition.

Goal Sports were beaten 4-0 by Kirkdale United at Pindar School.

Mark Plumpton's side trailed 1-0 at the break before visitors United pulled away in the second half to fire in three more unanswered goals and progress to the next round.

Plumpton was pleased with his side's effort despite their defeat, praising his entire team rather than picking a man of the match.

Kirkdale will face Scalby Reserves in the quarter-finals.

Cayton Athletic also exited the competition after they were soundly beaten 9-1 on the road at Gillamoor AFC.

A heavily-depleted Athletic side were well beaten in the end by their Beckett League hosts, Luke Priestley scoring for Cayton with Finn Tunman their man of the match despite their defeat.

Gillamoor meet Sherburn in the last eight of the competition.
