Sherburn seal place in final

Sherburn secured their place in the final of the Frank White Trophy with a 3-1 home win over Eastway Sports.

The hosts went 1-0 up in the battle of the Division Three promotion rivals after just six minutes, striker Paul Mills converting a penalty.

One became two just moments later when a looping header by Liam Scott found the net.

Andy Adamson’s side took their two-goal advantage into the interval, and moved into a 3-0 lead after 52 minutes thanks to a close-range finish from Mills.

Mills and Sam Rackham both hit the woodwork in the second half before Eastway grabbed a consolation with 15 minutes remaining.

The victors’ man of the match award went to Harry Walmsley after an impressive display in the centre of midfield.

Nick Ellis hit a hat-trick as first division Edgehill cruised past Division Three Itis Itis Rovers in their Coastal Shellfish League Cup clash.

Jackson Jowett gave Steve Clegg’s men the lead with just five minutes on the clock before an own goal and efforts from Ellis and Tyler Richardson handed the hosts a 4-1 half-time advantage.

Danny Glendinning scored just after the hour-mark and Dave Bell was on target soon after as Edgehill ended the game as a contest.

Richardson notched his second of the match and Ellis then registered in the 79th and 84th minutes to complete his treble in a one-sided affair.

West Pier claimed a 5-0 away success at Filey Town in their Scarborough FA District Cup semi-final at Clarence Drive.

Hot-shot Billy Logan was once again on top form in front of goal, netting four times in a game that Pier led 1-0 at the break.

Martin Cooper was also on target as Andy Spivey’s side took full control of the game after the interval.
