Skipper Michael Coulson wants Boro to kick on after derby win
Scarborough Athletic’s Michael Coulson is hoping the club can kick on after their derby win over Whitby Town.
Coulson said: “It was good to get the win on Saturday in Darren’s (Kelly) first game in charge.
“We owed a strong performance to the fans and I felt like we gave them something to celebrate.
“Managerial sackings happen in football but I do feel like we needed a change at the club, I’m hopeful things will start to pick up and it’s clear that Darren will give 100% in everything that he does.”
Kelly announced that Coulson will continue as skipper and the striker added: “I really enjoy captaining the lads and always try to lead by example.
“His decision gives me the opportunity to continue to positively influence the lads again.”
“As a team we have to take it week by week and consolidate where we are.
“I’ve been here before with York City, we were second bottom but went on a run which saw us reach the play-offs.
“It’s always better to finish the season stronger rather than starting strong and falling away.”
