Boro may have edged the clash by a 2-0 scoreline at Scarborough RUFC's Silver Royd, but the local side definitely pushed them.

"We did well, they were sharp, quick and very fit, but we kept with them," he said.

"It was never going to be easy to compete over 90 minutes in that heat, but we weren't that far away.

"I thought we played a lot better in the second half, the lads just seemed to dig in a bit more, which was good to see.

"We were missing a few lads as well, lads that would have been in the side. If they had been there on the day then who knows?

"There were some good performances on the day though, especially in the second half. I thought Joe Gallagher, Lloyd Henderson, Dean Craig, Sam Garnett and a few others did well against a very good Scarborough Athletic side."
