Sun too hot for Pier Reserves

SUN Inn stormed into the final of the McCain Cup with a 6-0 win against West Pier Reserves at Staxton.

Carl Hepples opened the scoring with a neat finish after fine approach play from Eddie Mackenzie.

Scott Newland headed in the second goal from a corner to put Sun 2-0 up at the interval, and their place in the final was effectively sealed early in the second half when Gary Hepples fired home after a through ball from his brother Carl.

Sun then made it 4-0 with a fine solo run and shot from Carl Hepples, and the latter then set up Graham Farrah, who placed his shot past the busy West Pier goalkeeper.

Man of the match Carl Hepples had the chance to seal his hat-trick when he raced forward in the closing minutes, but with only the keeper to beat, he unselfishly squared the ball to his brother Gary to make it 6-0.
