West Pier 2 (Speight, Dobson) Newlands 6 (R Cooper 2, Moon 2, McCoubrey, Delve)

Ryan Cooper and Stefan Moon struck a brace apiece as division one leaders Newlands Park turned on the style late on to see off a determined West Pier outfit.

Newlands are now nine points clear of rivals Trafalgar, but the latter have won all 11 of their games and have five games in hand.

Moon opened the scoring for Joe Hakings’ team with a brilliant strike, racing past three Pier defenders before smashing the ball low into the bottom right-hand corner of the net.

Drew McCoubrey’s tap-in put Park 2-0 ahead, but Rob Speight gave Pier hope with a goal before half-time.

Cameron Dobson equalised early in the second half for Pier with a cracking strike after a clever turn, but three substititions by the visitors turned the game in their favour in the final 15 minutes.

Boss Hakings brought on James Tadman at left-back, Kile Fields on in right midfield and Dan Freer on the left wing and this changed the match.

Stefan Moon restored the lead for Newlands with a cracking 20-yard effort and striker Cooper showed his class with a clever finish to make it 4-2.

Cooper’s strike-partner Luke Delve, who had an outstanding game, fired in a richly-deserved goal and Cooper hit another to complete the scoring.

Jack Hakings, along with Moon, Cooper and Delve all shone for the visitors in this victory.

Pier joint-boss Jamie Towse, said: “The whole team were brilliant considering we had a very scratch team out, including three reserve players.

“With 15 minutes to go we still looked good at 2-2 but we lost James Ledden, one of the reserve lads, to injury, and we started to tire. They went ahead and fired in three more in the final six minutes.

“Everyone worked hard and battled so it would be unfair to single anyone out as the man of the match.”

Roscoe’s Bar 0 Klosters 8 (Scales 5, L Vasey 2, Rose)

Tom Scales netted five times as Klosters eased to an 8-0 victory over second-from-bottom Roscoe’s Bar.

Scales had Klosters three goals to the good after 35 minutes before Georgie Rose volleyed home the goal of the game to make it 4-0 at the interval.

Liam Vasey bagged a brace after the break - his second goal coming from the penalty spot- and Scales added two more goals to round off the scoring.

Player-boss Rhys Howell spurned the chance to add to his side’s tally when he missed a late penalty.

Fylingdales (L Brennan 4, Forde 2, Welham, Chandler) Cayton Corinthians 0

Lee Brennan hit four as Fylingdales boosted their chances of avoiding the drop with an 8-0 home win against relegated Cayton.

Si Forde also chipped in with a double while Dave Welham and Paddy Chandler also notched for the hosts.
