Only one game managed to survived the weekend downpour as Trafalgar Reserves edged closer to the division two title with a 3-0 win over Ayton.

Division 1:

Filey Flyers P-P Cayton Cor

Fylingdales P-P Newlands

Roscoes Bar P-P Klosters

Trafalgar P-P West Pier

Division 2:

Traf Res 3 (Prosser 2, Pinder) Ayton 0 (Abandoned after 70 minutes - result stands)

Andy Noon’s Trafalgar Reserves were the winners in the only game to beat the weather following the torrential downpours over the weekend.

With the game given the green light to go ahead at Oliver’s Mount, Traf were straight on the front foot and led 1-0 after Jason Prosser’s superb 35-yard lob.

It was soon 2-0 after a goalkeeping error handed the ball to Traf frontman Jack Pinder, who swivelled neatly and rifled into the bottom corner to double the lead for Noon’s title-chasers.

Neat work from Traf man of the match Damien Robinson then led to Prosser being sent free down the right flank and the Traf man curled a precise finish arohnd the advancing keeper to put the result beyond any doubt.

Both sides continued despite the game on the adjacent pitch between Angel and Castle being called to a halt during the interval, but referee Ben Naylor deemed the pitch unsuitable after 70 minutes and the game was called to an early conclusion.

Traf’s joint-boss Andy Noon said: “It was all us during the game and we fully deserved to win the game.

“The conditions were awful and everyone agreed that we should call it a day after 70 minutes.

“The win puts us a bit closer to the title. We play Whitby in a few weeks and if we can beat them then I think we’ll have done it.”

Noon was full of praise for star man Robinson, who shone in an unfamilair position in the middle of the Traf midfielder.

Ayton manager Plumpton echoed Noon’s views on the abandonment. He said: “The conditions were awful.

“The pitch was playable at 11am but we had rain, sleet, hail and snow during the 70 minutes and we were right to come off when we did.”
