A depleted West Riding side also had to come back from a goal behind twice to earn a 3-3 draw at Fylingdales Reserves.

Despite having seven players missing and boss James Prethero playing in goal, the away team opened the scoring through a deflected free-kick from Liam Buglass.

Goals from Ryan Cook and 16-year-old Ben Thompson put the hosts 2-1 in front at the break.

Jack Ramos levelled with a fine finish after a strong run and pass from Buglass, but Si Ford’s effort slid past Prethero to restore Fylingdales’ lead.

Hull University claimed a controversial last-gasp 3-3 draw at home to Cayton Corinthians.

The students claimed a third goal with almost the last kick of the game from Jake Douglas, though Cayton player-boss John Best was form than happy with the leveller.

He said: “The ref Albert Eadon played 11 minutes of injury-time and then when the corner was given for their goal he blew the final whistle as the kick was taken so the goal went in after the final whistle, but he still allowed it.

Sam Gowland put the hosts in front, only for Josh Venner to equalise.

Gowland’s second effort less than a minute into the second half put Uni back on top, but goals from Tom Sixsmith and Alex May looked to have sealed the win for Cayton until the students’ late leveller.

Gowland was named as the Uni man of the match while Ed Burrows also shone for the hosts.
