There is still a lot of hard work to be done

You could describe the year of 2012 as being very kind to our club Scarborough Athletic on the whole.

This season we started by getting things right in pre-season and things have just continued from there.

It is all down to the hard work of a number of people and I think a lot of the credit has to go to the players.

They have put the effort in on the training ground and on the pitch and that is what has made the difference.

We have had the quality to work with in the shape of the likes of Ryan Blott and Tony Hackworth, and we have added to that with players like James Bennett, Tommy Adams, Ollie Banks, Sam Denton, Andy Milne, and more recently Henry Sibenge, David Brown and Jimmy Beadle coming in.

It is the effort of the people behind the scenes that deserves plenty of credit as well.

The chairman Dave Holland and the board members have worked tirelessly, and you have to remember the stewards Darren and Sam and the people on the gate, who always have a morale boosting smile when I arrive.

Our fans are also a unique brand.

They have criticised us when things haven’t been going well, but they have also backed us to the hilt.

You only have to look at the games against Nostell, Worksop Parramore and Retford, when we fell behind.

They got behind us, which was something that made a difference to the players and it made a difference to me.

It has been enjoyable so far, but you can’t enjoy things too much because it leads to you losing focus.

It is important that you focus on every game and every player involved.

This is only half-term at the moment, but things have gone well for us.

We must now keep up that hard work and then maybe that will lead us to be pushing for honours in a few months time.
