Top scorer Bradshaw staying put

Top scorer and Supporters Club player of the year Gary Bradshaw will remain a Scarborough Athletic player next season.

The former Hull City and North Ferriby frontman has commited to joint-bosses Paul Foot and Bryan Hughes.

The pair have also been boosted by the commitment of defenders Matty Plummer and Ben Middleton, as well as attacker Alex Metcalfe.

Meanwhile, Chris Bolder, who was the victim of a horrific knee injury before last Christmas, will further his role with the club and is likely to take up a coaching job.

Joint-boss Foot said: “We are obviously delighted to have these players commit to the club.

“Gary has been exceptional for us over the past couple of seasons, while Matty has done a great job across the back-line.

“Ben has had a chat with North Ferriby, so the fact that he has decided to stay just underlines the ambition of this club.

“His progress has been outstanding this season, showed by the fact that he was voted players’ player at Friday’s awards night.

“Alex is another player who came to us from a higher level and obviously there have been a number of clubs looking at him.

“These are two young lads who have a bright future in the game, so we are over the moon that they have committed.”

Foot is also pleased that Bolder will be given the opportunity to pass on his experience to the squad.

He added: “Because Chris is moving around a lot better now he will be doing a fair bit of coaching and helping out in pre-season.

“We are also hoping to have him back playing towards the back end of the season.”

Foot and Hughes will be meeting more players at the end of this week.
