Keeper Jason White has left Scarborough Athletic and looks to sign for former boss Rudy Funk at AFC Mansfield.
Boro’s joint-bosses Bryan Hughes and Paul Foot are moving swiftly to bring in a replacement, though they may use this opportunity to blood 18-year-old Rory Skelton.
Hughes said: “We have known about the situation with Jason for about a week, but we didn’t want to put anything out there so nobody’s form on the pitch was affected.
“We gave Jason the opportunity to speak to AFC Mansfield and after that he has left the club on good terms. He knows that the door is always open if it doesn’t work out for him.
“The geographical reasons and the relationship he has with Rudy obviously played a part. I know it has taken its toll with him driving all the way from the Mansfield area.
“We are looking to act quickly now because we have to move on from this.
“We want to get a replacement in there, hopefully in time for the game against Pickering Town on Tuesday.
“If we can’t do that then we know we have Rory, who has proved to us that he can come in and do a job.”
