Belt earns second place in PGA North Championship

Snainton Golf Centre's Alex Belt was edged out by a shot in the PGA North Championship at Pleasington Golf Club, Belt finishing as runner-up to Phil Archer.

Bridlington's Belt, who is currently leading the two order of merits in the north of England and Wales and the Yorkshire PGA, carded rounds of 68 and 70 to finish on four-under-par, a shot behind Archer.

Belt, who snapped up a cheque for £1,500 for his second place, said: "I was just one shot shy yesterday of winning my third North Region Championship to Phil Archer, who is an ex-European Tour winner."
