HOCKEY: Evans and Brown at the double in win

The ladies are on track for a round-robin league with the winners from different regions in their division gaining promotion.

Scarborough, despite being short-staffed and losing a player through an early injury in the match, ran out comfortable winners.

In a physical match with tempers in the opposition team becoming slightly heated, Scarborough kept their cool and worked steadily on improving the bottom line.

Goals came from Helen Evans Kelly Brown with two each and a reward for a great effort by Alexandra Seymour.

Training for the ladies continues at Scarborough College, Wednesdays 7.30pm. Newcomers are welcome.

Scarborough Mens 2nds took full advantage of playing at home as they came away with maximum points Saturday’s fixture against Driffield 3rds with their best performance of the season in a 7-0 win.

The goals came from Aaron Dyson, who bagged two, Samuel Echevarría, Jacob Warters, Michael Waterfield, Nicholas David and a Brett Alexander-Cunningham strike.

Scarborough Mens 1sts picked up six points over the weekend, despite not swinging a stick in anger.

Their opponents Mirfield and City of York 9ths both failed to raise teams resulting in default 3-0 victories.

All three teams are in action this weekend with away ties and are looking to continue the winning sequence.

The Men face the City Of York 6ths, the Mens 2nds face Leeds Adel 5ths and the Ladies face Bradford 2nds.
