Home stars net glory at Scarborough Angling Festival

Matthew Hillaby won the Bob Yarker Trophy roving competition as the Scarborough Angling Festival swung into action, while fellow local angler Paul Medd snapped up top spot in the Yorkshire Open Codling Championship.

Hillaby, who also won the North of England Codling Championship at Filey Fishing Festival, netted 15lb 13oz 10drm to win the greatest weight of fish competition, more than two pounds ahead of second-placed Medd.

Medd then triumphed in the greatest weight of codling competition, receving the Keith Williamson Trophy for his bag of 14-2-2.
