He will return to the ring on March 11 in Cleethorpes, with his opponent yet to be confirmed, but the light-welterweight is setting his sights on long-term goals.

Horner said: “I want to get as much experience as I can this year, and hopefully that means four fights. I only want three fights at four rounds, before stepping up to six rounds.”

Horner won his debut against Ibrar Riyaz in Barnsley in November.

“It was a tough debut, but if I can beat him with a bit of style, then things are looking good,” said Horner.

After some time off over Christmas, Horner is back in the gym and is close to being down to his fighting weight.

He added: “I have had a bit of a break but I am back now and feeling good. I had a week and a bit off but my fitness is back and I will start sparring again next week.

“I probably won’t know who I am fighting until the week before the bout, but it doesn’t bother me.

“Get there, do the job and come home.”
