A SCARBOROUGH-BORN woman has become the first female scorer to be appointed by the MCC for an international cricket match at Lord's.
Cathy Rawson, a 55-year-old nurse, will be the scorer for the final of the Natwest triangular one-day series between England, South Africa and Zimbabwe, at theheadquarters of cricket on Saturday, July 12.
Formerly Cathy Hunter, Mrs Rawson was born and bred in Scarborough, attending Gladstone Road Primary School and Scarborough Girls High School before heading south to go to Hammersmith College to train as a nurse.
Cathy met her husband Chris while training at the college, and then caught the scoring bug while watching her husband playing local cricket.
The couple now live in Upchurch, Kent.
Her mother Dorothy Hunter lives in Eastfield, her brother Colin in Ayton and sister Julie in Gladstone Road.
