Loyal Coulson in for starters

TOP teenage prospect Michael Coulson has turned down the chance to extend his trial at Barnsley in order to help Boro out of their relegation plight.

Coulson – who may still join Coca-Cola League One side Barnsley in the summer – looks certain to start tomorrow's home clash with Woking.

Redfearn is ready to unleash the 17-year-old on the club's relegation battle and said: "It's a brilliant attitude from the lad.

"He wants to help us out of trouble despite Barnsley being desperate to extend his trial spell.

"Coulo did well when he came on late in last weekend's game at Forest Green and I think it is time for him to have a run in the side.

"He has impressed at Barnsley and they are very keen on him. He is still our player though and it is time for Michael to grow up into a first-teamer and for him to take his chance here.

"He has nicked a goal or two for the reserves and I think he is capable of doing the same for the first team."

Redfearn is also thinking of giving popular winger David Pounder a run in the side.

He added: "My main concern when David came back was overloading him with games.

"He was messed about here before and then things didn't work out at York City for him.

"He is still a very handy lad to have and I know that he can give us the quality out on the left that could make the difference."
