Top boxing promoter Frank Maloney is hoping to plan a fight in the USA for Scarborough cruiserweight Danny Price after his win last weekend.

Price, 26, won his fifth consecutive fight since turning professional against Ugandan Moses Matovu on Saturday, and while he wasn’t blown away by his performance, Maloney is tipping the Scarborough man for big things, starting with a possible fight across the Atlantic in the USA.

Speaking to The Scarborough News, Maloney said: “I wouldn’t be interested in Danny if he couldn’t go further than the domestic levels.

“I’m discussing the possibility of a fight in America and that’s something we might look to do with him.

“I’d give Danny a seven-and-a-half out of 10 for Saturday’s performance. He did a professional job, it was OK.

“He is always learning and that’s a good thing about Danny.

“If he can get his jab right and really use it as a ramrod, he can dominate the division.”

Maloney also hinted at a possible return to Scarborough for prime time boxing, he added: “We might do a show at the Spa next July, that would be great.

“We did it with Paul Ingle so it would be great to come back.”
