Alex Belt’s attempts to secure a coveted place at The Open will see him head to Scotland next week.

The Bridlington golfer, who represents De Vere and Snainton Golf Centre, will compete in the final qualifying round at the Gailes Links course on Tuesday.

He will play 36 holes alongside Patrick Devine of Dublin and Dutchman Joost Steenkamer, teeing off at 9.10am and 2.40pm.

Only the top three at each of the four qualifying venues will earn a place at The Open at Royal Liverpool in July. Among the field in Ayrshire are South Africa’s Retief Goosen and James Hepworth of Ilkley, who won the Seaside Pro-Am at Bridlington Golf Club earlier this month.
