The Eastway B Super League darts team started their season with a 5-3 victory at local rivals the Clifton Hotel.
Things did not start well for the visitors with Jim ‘The Commissioner’ Gordon not finding his usual high standard of scoring in his match and fell to a 4-2 defeat to PDC player Richie Corner.
Next Tom Dawson found his opponent in top form so despite some high scores from the youngster he was well beaten.
Simmy Cass got the first point of the season, consistent scoring saw him ease to a 4-1 victory.
It was a similar scoreline in the next game where a 99 checkout was the highlight for Ryan Taylor in his first win at this level.
A 14-dart leg was the best for Spadge Bointon in his match, but better finishing from his opponent saw him lose by a 4-2 scoreline.
In the next match Genge Elvidge went one better with a 13-darter helping him to an 80-plus average and a comfortable 4-0 victory.
Graham Steel was another to get his maiden victory at this level.
After a nervous start a checkout of 78 settled him down and a 97 finish for a 17-dart leg gave him a 4-1 win.
In the final match a dozen tons and a 16-dart leg saw Paul Hamblin to a 4-2 triumph and a good victory for the team.
The team’s next match will be at home to Gomersal on the October 1.
