Gala success for swim stars

SWIMMING stars of the future hit top form at the Scarborough Schools Partnership Year Five and Six Swimming Gala.

Seventeen schools took part in the three heats, with the top two teams in each going through to the top league, Dolphins, for the next gala. Newby & Scalby won the first heat, Filey triumphed in the second heat and St Martin’s the third heat.

Ryedale, Whitby and Scarborough School Sports Partnership Competition Manager Grant Soames said: “I would like to thank the volunteers from the local clubs, and the young leaders from Scarborough sixth form college for the assistance provided at the event.”

The new leagues for the next gala are:

Dolphins - Newby & Scalby, East Ayton, St Peter’s, Bramcote, Filey and Wheatcroft.

Sealions - Lindhead, Seamer, Barrowcliff, St George’s, St Martins and Northstead.

Sharks - Gladstone Road, Hertford Vale, Hunmanby, Friarage and Snainton/Wykeham.
