There is never a shortage of competitors at Friars Hill Stables’ monthly events and Sunday’s pre-Christmas showjumping competition at the Sinnington centre was no exception.

In the centre’s open competitions local riders compete alongside riding school clients in a friendly, supportive environment with the riding school ponies demonstrating just how versatile they can be, and kicking off proceedings with a win in the 45cm class was Joanne Brown and Billy.

Then it was a win for 12-year-old Jody Salton from Easingwold on Lulu, a Friars Hill pony.

Jody has been a member of the centre’s pony club for three years, having enjoyed success in both dressage and showjumping competitions on the stables’ ponies and the young rider has already qualified for the David Broome Championships in April, so she can now add another well-deserved win to her tally.

Jody was beaten into second place in the 65cm class by Grace Rhoder on Clover, while Brittany Wheldon fought off strong competition in the 75cm class to gain the top spot on Tally.

In the 85cm class, Amy Hayhurst proved to be on top form claiming victory on her talented jumping pony, Merlin.
