Scarborough welterweight George Rhodes has been forced to pull out of his fight with Steven Backhouse next weekend after suffering an injury in sparring..
The injury adds to a frustrating couple of months for the Westway man, whose original fight against Bulgarian Danny Donchev, which was supposed to be tonight in Barnsley, was cancelled.
Rhodes said: "I damaged the tendons and ligaments in my right hand a a few weeks ago and the physio has advised me not to box.
"I've been training and sparring with one hand while it got better, but I've injured it again in sparring this week.
"I'm going to stay in the gym and keep my weight down so that as soon as it's better I'm ready to fight."
