Scarborough boxer George Rhodes Jnr is refusing to let the last-ditch cancellation of his fight this Saturday get him down.

Rhodes was scheduled to take on Matt Seawright on Curtis Woodhouse’s first boxing promotion in Hull this Saturday, but the show has been cancelled.

The Westway-trained welterweight was on the show alongside stablemate George Horner, who was set to make his debut.

A frustrated Rhodes said: “It’s very frustrating and annoying, but it is part and parcel of the sport unfortunately.

“I’m more annoyed for the people who bought tickets off me, paid for hotels, booked time off work and got babysitters sorted, it must be really frustrating for them.

“I suppose the silver lining is that I am on weight and in great shape.

“I’m hoping to be out again in 2015, we’ll just have to wait for the call.”
