Twitter has been busy again with questions from readers.
This week I have been asked to show you a drill to help pitch over water or bunkers.
As soon as golfers have a hazard in front of them they lose confidence and are scared of hitting the ball into the hazard.
This loss in confidence affects their technique increasing the likelihood of hitting the ball into the hazard.
Good pitchers of the ball just look at where they want to land the ball so the ball will then roll and finish next to the hole.
A good drill to help you become more target orientated is to lie three golf clubs on the ground, making a U shape at the point where you want the ball to land on the green.
Now practice hitting shots so the ball lands in the centre of the clubs then runs out of the U shape towards the hole.
With every shot your thoughts are just trying to land the ball in the U shape, no thoughts about any other distraction.
Once you have spent time practicing this take these thoughts with you onto the course.
Instead of thinking “Don’t hit it in the water,” your thoughts should be “Land the ball on that area on the green”.
This will take the doubt out of your head helping you swing better then in turn strike the ball better.
